Roxie’s Retreat: A Shabby Beach Room Box in Miniature Memory
My Mother loved the beach and cherished her weekend vacation with my Dad to Newport Beach, Rhode Island. Roxie’s Retreat is my tribute to her—a 1:12 scale miniature beachside shabby core room box inspired by her love for quiet, peaceful mornings, soft shabby pastels, and gentle winds.
The room box from LaserLines,(a wonderful shoppe of Etsy), with the attached patio deck was the perfect setting for her little getaway retreat and was so much fun to paint and decorate in a shabby beach style she would have adored. Every miniature detail was thoughtfully chosen:
- Imperfect whitewashed walls
- Sunrise breakfast setting with white linen tablecloth with pale teal metal
- Breezy, wind-tossed white cotton voile curtains
- White cotton bedding with shabby pastel accents

This would be pretty too. Seersucker is the perfect beachside fabric. Crisp… yet airy and light. So romantic.
